The environment and human impact on it is a big topic across the world. The urge to rail against the corporate greed and government failures that yielded toxic air and water and the injustice of the poor being disproportionately subjected to it was the drive for this retro-sounding song.
lyrics
Overnight
Overnight and it was gone
There at dusk
Disappeared
By the dawn
Release my heart
Release my brain
Release my lungs so I
Can breathe again
For a blink
For a blink we were king
Had it all
Then set fire
To everything
Release my heart
Release my brain
Release my lungs so I
Can breathe again
Even if all you did was breathe
You would still be
Taking the air away from me
And everybody
This side of life and luxury
Who need the same thing
Should be free to breathe
Maybe we
Maybe we could make it right
Change our ways
Rebuild what we burned overnight
Release my heart
Release my brain
Release my lungs so I
Can breathe again
Even if all you did was breathe
You would still be
Taking the air away from me
And everybody
This side of life and luxury
Who need the same thing
Should be free to breathe
